I am thinking of getting a new home audio system, and I was wondering what I should look for in the impedance of my reciever's output and speakers.

I know it's measured in Ohms, usually 4,6, or 8, but which would give the best perfomance? I'm looking for the most accurate audio reproduction.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Also, I'm not looking to spend over $600 for the system. The best impedance rating withing this budget...

8 ohms is pretty much standard. 6 ohms is fine too. 4 ohm speakers will be easier to drive, but may cause some amplifiers to overheat...

The initial receiver/transmitter combo will run $149 and you can add additional receivers for $70, enabling you to enjoy music in up to three rooms in the house. According to Aperion, the system works through most walls and ceilings, so it should serve to wire your house for music.

The Home Audio Link can also be used to make your powered speakers or subwoofer wireless, by connecting the transmitter to the stereo receiver output and Aperion receiver to the speaker.

The system will ship on January 28. Overall, it looks like a handy, streamlined way of enjoying music around the home.

I'm on a limited budget, but would like to get a nice home audio system for my family room. I need to have the surround speakers in the ceiling. Should I buy a complete system or maybe piece on together? Thanks!

Hi. you can buy a complete system which is a home theater in a box, but you would not get the flexibility and sound quality of a system put together with some of the best components from different manufacturers.Ok,so we know your budget. If you could let me know if you want 5 speakers and a subwoofer (5.1) or 7 speakers and a subwoofer(7.1) ?Any particular brand of Receiver ? What Source are you using or going to buy ? (DVD/CD Player,Satellite,Tuner,Turntable)
Loudspeakers all vary in their sound quality.Some are bright sounding , others emphasise the bass frequencies while some have a fairly neutral sound meaning the do not favour any part of the frequency range.These tend to be more expensive than the others but are easier to live with .They reproduce all kinds of music equally well.

Other people on Answers will tell you to spend the most money on speakers and to get them first but that is not the way to go if you want the best sound for your budget.

I'm looking to put a whole home audio system in, what system do you use/prefer? What is cheap but good? Looking for 4-6 zones.
not a home theater system! and whole home audio system, with the individual volume controls for each room, etc.

Onkyo is by far the best "all-in-one" system for the money. Sometimes they have the 1000watt systems on sale. There's Sony, but they tend to be better at individual units, and their home theater packages sound like junk most of the time.
