laptop computer?

Q: I will not be using my laptop for 2 months, what should I do, disconnect everything???Please help, I am new to the computer and not sure what to do, This isthe only computer I have.

A: Well you want to turn your computer off. Remove the Battery and put it in it's case (if you have one) if you don't put it in a plastic storage bag to keep the prongs on the battery clean of dust. Put it in a safe dry place. Make sure it's not stored in a very hot area or it could cause damage. Lastly unplug all power internet wires such as a dial-up modem cord or ethernet cord. It will be safe and run good. But after that long you want to clear out Temporary Internet Files and history and run DiskDeframenter and DiskClean Up. Also make sure your anti-Virus is up-to-date.
Good Luck

Is there an cord/cable that connects a computer to an laptop like to send files to and from and to the computer and laptop because if there is it would be like sooo helpful

I don't know of a cord that you can transfer file back and forth between computers. You could set up a router and network so that you can move them back and forth from one drive to another. I have found the simplest thing to do is buy a USB stick drive or external hard drive and plug it into one, then disconnect and plug it into the other. You can get them rather cheap now and it is quick and easy to do.

Black Friday was golden for TV and computer sales Los Angeles Times
Holiday shopper Thanety Bunseam was reluctant to buy anything big this year, but a few days ago the 57-year-old factory worker could be seen resting on the curb outside a Best Buy store with his quarry: a 52-inch LCD TV and a new Sony PS3 game console.

"I got it free with the TV," he said, pointing to the PS3. "They have the game with the TV, so now I buy."

FOR THE RECORD:
Retail sales: An article in Thursday's Business section about sales during the week of Nov. 22 through Nov. 28 said the amount spent by shoppers on consumer electronic items was $1.2 billion. The correct figure is $2.7 billion. —

Despite tough economic times, consumers like Bunseam are shelling out money this year for big-ticket electronics such as computers and flat-panel televisions.

During the week of Black Friday, a critical period for beleaguered retailers, the number of computers sold rose a whopping 63% over the previous year while LCD TV sales were up

How can I connect my Desktop computer to my laptop computer?
[2008-12-27 07:06:57]
Booting Ubuntu

I want to connect my old desktop computer to my laptop, so that I can access all of the file on both of the computers. Can I do this by taking the cord that connects my monitor to my desktop computer?
I've heard that I could take my ethernet cord and plug it into my laptop and my desktop, will that work?
I want to try to avoid wireless networking, but if that's my only option I'd like to hear about that one too.
Thanks.

The easiest way is to by a Ethernet Router and connect an ethernet cable to each PC.
You do not have to have a conection to the internet to do this.
You should then be able to see the other machine using the "My Network Places" button.
However to see the files you need to "share" the Harddrive to the network.
You do this by "Right hand clicking" on the drive or folder you wish to share and select Sharing and Security and follow the prompts.

How does a person with a laptop computer on a cable Internet connection go wireless?
[2006-11-27 04:42:56]
Installing

My sister has a laptop computer and right now its hooked up to cable internet connection. She would like to get out of having the wire hooked up to her laptop and go to a wireless cable connection. What would she need to buy to do this? Please explain this to me so that I can tell her.

She'll need a wireless router to connect her modem through. And for the laptop, she'll need a wireless PCMCIA card or wireless USB adapter, preferably from the same manufacturer as the router. If it's a recent laptop it may already have an inbuilt wireless card in it.
