Computer monitor?
[2008-02-20 17:34:10]

Q: My Dell Trinitron monitor for my computer (about 8 years old) periodically makes a high pitched sound. If you adjust the monitor (up or down) the noise will stop. What causes this? Can it be fixed?

A: That sound is probably a capacitor or a transistor leaking voltage to ground. It will get worse until the monitor quits working.

Monitors are expensive to work on and they can be very dangerous also. There is a transformer (flyback) and a capacitor circuit that can hold a static charge for months (or longer), and still deliver enough shock to kill you. There are also hazardous materials in side that are just plain bad (phospohorus for one). Most monitors, for that reason should be treated like a light bulb. Use it till it blows, then replace it.

UN Bodies Want Up to $60 Billion to Monitor ... Everything FOXNews

An organization representing the grandest ambitions of climate scientists wants Western nations to spend at least $2.1 billion a year for the next five years — and as much as $60 billion overall during that period — to glean huge troves of still undiscovered climate information from the world's land, air and seas.

The information system aims to measure literally everything environmental, from the full amount of plant leaf material in the world's ecosystems to the differences in saltiness throughout the world's oceans to the discharge from every one of the world's major rivers, to the monitoring of water vapor and cloud distribution throughout the earth's atmosphere.

This immense store of information is urgently needed to gain a true picture of the vastly complicated climatic and environmental interactions of the planet, according to a draft version of an update report on the huge project, known as the Global Observing System for Climate, which is not expected to be finalized until April 2010. And according to the report's authors, the information to be gathered is too valuable to be left to any single nation.

How my computer monitor brightness has reduced?

My computer monitor brightness has reduced.First i thought my monitor has some pblms. But when i connect with TV tuner card, my monitor work perfectly.I want to know is there anything in CPU which affect monitor's brightness?Very less bright when i switch on computer but no pblm when i watch TV in monitor. Why it happens? Can anyone tell me?Thank You for reading my question.

Try out the most simple thing. There are few buttons on your Monitor. Click on the Menu button. It will show you some options for look settings. Go to Brightness and increase it to the limit you want. That will solve your problem.

Someone might have reduced the brightness by mistake and that is causing your monitor look dim.

Hope that helps,
Goldest

What computer monitor would you recommend the most?
[2008-09-03 18:50:38]

I want a second computer monitor to go along with my main PC so that i can multi-task. S-Video and coax for regular TV are necessities. Any recommendations?

I have found that multitasking with two monitors side by side looks terrible if they're not the exact same brand and model.

Do it in style! Get two monitors!

Samsung LCDs have never let me down. I've had a 17inch 730B for several years now and the performance still wows me.

Edit:
Whoops, this model doesn't have coaxial input for TV.
Solution: hi def TV capture card. The perfect DVR for a new Aquos 52".
